The Gannochy Trust has been granted planning permission to build a new path connecting the Kinnoull area of Perth to Kinnoull Hill. Construction will commence in the Spring and is due for completion in the Summer of 2025.
The new route will enhance the local path network for walkers and cyclists to enjoy, and will take pedestrians off Muirhall Road for additional safety. It will run from the top end of the Murray Royal hospital site up to the existing woodland path network on Kinnoull Hill. The path will also act as an important wildlife corridor with hedgerows being planted to increase biodiversity, and the upper section will have outstanding views northwards across Perthshire for walkers to enjoy.
Andy Duncan, Chief Executive of The Gannochy Trust said:
“Kinnoull Hill and the surrounding network of paths have been a popular destination for walkers and cyclists for many years. Our new path will create a safe off-road route between the Gannochy estate and Kinnoull Hill, and will also help enhance wildlife biodiversity in the area. The Trust is committed to improving access to the countryside for our tenants and the wider Perth community, and we look forward to opening the new path in the Summer.”
